What's the harm in starting off making wine for mothers day right today, so that you can be ready with your surprises on the Mothers Day next year. Here's how to make Apple wine for Mothers Day...
Ingredients:
- Apples that have fallen by wind, mixed varieties -- 6 lb.
- Chopped golden raisins -- 1/2 lb.
- Granulated sugar -- 3 lb.
- Lemon -- 1
- Pectic enzyme -- 1/2 tsp.
- Yeast and nutrient -- Two little pinches
- Chop the apples into pieces as smaller as possible.
- Pour the in 1 gallon water.
- Bring the mixture to simmer for 15 minutes.
- Strain liquid onto the sugar.
- Gradually add the zest of the lemon while mixing the liquid in the sugar.
- Stir it well to blend properly.
- Let it cool down to normal temperature.
- Add lemon juice and pectic enzyme to the mixture
- Stir it well again.
- Cover them and set the mixture in a warm place at least for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours add yeast and nutrient and stir it well again.
- Cover it again, and set the mixture in a warm place for another 24 hours.
- Strain the mixture again into the main jar.
- Fit the vessel with airlock.
- Open the bottle on 31st day and add chopped raisins into the mixture.
- Allow to ferment under airlock for next six months. Rack and bottle.
- Taste after six months, or allow one year to mature.
